Elizabeth Sorenson, Ph.D.

Biography
Dr. Elizabeth received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and her doctoral degree from the University of Michigan in 1994. Dr. Elizabeth has been working in the field of mental health for more than 25 years. Her research has included multiple aspects of early childhood and family development and psychological transitions when facing terminal illness. She offers holistic consultation and treatment for parenting challenges, emotional distress including stress reactions, relationship issues, and recovery from trauma.

Dr. Elizabeth’s psychotherapy practice at Emmaus welcomes young children, adolescents, adults, parents, and couples. She emphasizes facilitating respectful, meaningful relationships between families and our health care team with an integrative approach to mind, body, and spirit. Elizabeth also works with schools to promote successful strategies for helping children with learning challenges, including ADHD, anxiety and depressions, and complex psychological circumstances.

Dr. Elizabeth was raised in Iowa but has become True Blue. She is a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Ann Arbor. She is also mother to 14 biological and adopted children.
